The renovation of a period house is not an easy task, especially if you embark on doing most of the work yourself, so when Tiffany and husband Rob moved into their new home, they knew that the process would be long and time-consuming. They decided that the first job would be to renovate the kids’ room, as the children needed to feel comfortable in the new house.
Tiffany is a very talented interiors stylist and blogger and she knew what style she wanted for her children’s bedroom; a calm, clean and modern scandi look incorporating pastel colours, white walls and floors, natural wood, some interesting wall art and the children’s colourful toys. After decorating the floors and walls, they turned their attention to the fitted Victorian cupboard. I think this is the element that has transformed the room the most as it looks like a completely new cupboard.
She chose a beautiful blue paint and finished the look with solid birch door handles, as she wanted to add a modern touch to the existing Victorian cupboard to go with her contemporary scandi theme. I love that Tiff painted the room, door and skirting boards in the same blue colour as the cupboard as it creates a more cohesive look.
We made the cupboard door handles in the size and design Tiffany required. For more designs and ideas, check out our bespoke section where you can find the whole range of designs. Get in touch for advice – I am happy to help you choose the right handles and wooden knobs for your projects. I am a fan of up-cycling old furniture and giving it a new lease of life. I like mixing old vintage pieces with more modern designs. I think this combination of old and new makes a space more interesting and unique, plus it helps to reduce the rubbish that goes into landfill – recycling at its best! An easy way to up-cycle a piece of furniture is to give it a good coat of paint and finish it with some decorative handles. It is a fun way of adding your own stamp to the piece and to explore your creativity.
